May I suggest having a monthly contest? Take all the best entries and compile them for free release. Although I haven’t purchased the software yet, I am going to definitely do so. I have been looking for a long time for a replacement for Wundertouch’s Particle Illusion, since it is basically deadware (hasn’t been updated in about 11 years)
Anyway, each monthly contest could have a different subject/style of emitter for the competition…
(explosions, fireworks, depth charges, magical spells, cartoon explosions, readouts, blood splats, horror, nebula, wormholes, transporter, lightning, electricity, particle weapons, etc).I don’t know if there is a video tutorial on how to make an emitter from scratch, but that would help get everyone into making custom emitters and then they could participate too.
An email contest would be cool, not sure how many would participate. Unfortunately time is my biggest downfall at the moment to organise these things! There is a video tutorial about creating an explosion from scratch here: http://www.rigzsoft.co.uk/video-tutorials/
