cosmotr1ParticipantI am new to this program, and I downloaded all the emitters on the download page, and tried to follow the video tutorial. It seems that when it starts it says to load the library from the downloads, but my files that I unzipped aren’t in a library extension. I have the flares folder open, and I have flare 1-11 png files, and a folder that says thumbnails. The only other files are data, smokeball.tpa and icon.
Is there something I’m missing, or are all those emitters not supposed to be in a library format so I can easily play with them?
Please help. Thanks.
❓ 🙁

imported_peterigzParticipantHello, there’s no need to unzip the .eff files, they can (and have to) be loaded into the editor as they are.

cosmotr1ParticipantWhen I go to import library, no zip files show up to import, and nothing in open library, as well. Is there another way to get the zip file into the program?

imported_peterigzParticipantEffects libraries are files that end in .eff – These are the files that you load and import into the editor. So you can just download an effects library from this site, then go File -> Open Library and locate where you downloaded the library and load it in.

cosmotr1ParticipantOkay, I’ll explain again…There are no .eff library files showing up when I go to load into the open library on my hard drive. The zip files don’t load, and if unzipped, the only files in the folder have these extensions: .png files, xml data, icon, and a tpa files. I have tried downloading the files several times. I don’t have a problem loading the sample library files that come with the software (StarBursts and ExampleEffects). It is only the emitters in the downloads section. They aren’t set up as .eff files, from what I see. I shouldn’t be having a problem with this.
😕

imported_peterigzParticipantHmm this is very strange. On the emitters downloads downloads page each download links directly to the effect file for example:
http://www.rigzsoft.co.uk/files/emitters/ShootemUpEffects.eff
So if you download that are you not left with a file on your HD called ShootemUpEffects.eff ? Which browser are you using? Maybe it is doing something strange to the files because it recognises them as zip files- maybe it’s renaming them to .zip? In which case you’d need to change them back again to .eff

cosmotr1ParticipantProblem solved by downloading in Opera browser. They downloaded as .eff files. Thanks! Just so you know, the browser I used before, internet explorer 8 on windows vista, was saving as zip files. So yes, it was doing something weird.

imported_peterigzParticipantThanks for the heads up, I didn’t realise IE would do something like that, quite annoying! Maybe I should just upload the libraries as zip files containing the .eff files to avoid confusion in future.

LantyParticipantI had the same problem.
When I import the fx or save the fx from the downloads page I get a bunch of .zip files which when extracted do not contain the needed .eff files (the .eff files are what open in the editor). I believe the .zip is actually the .eff that windows has renamed and all you need to do is manually rename the extension (change the .zip to .eff).

imported_peterigzParticipantHi Lanty, yes it’s annoying that IE does that, but as you say renaming solves it. I guess there might be an option buried in IE somewhere that stops that behaviour…

CharlotteRParticipantI had the same problem with IE and Firefox, but it worked with Chrome.
